Jersey Carparks — Support

Last updated: 3 May 2026

Jersey Carparks shows live carpark space counts for St Helier, Jersey, on your iPhone and Apple CarPlay dashboard.

Quick start

  1. Install from the App Store and open it once. The app will fetch live data on first launch.
  2. Long-press an empty area of your iPhone home screen, tap EditAdd Widget, search for "Jersey Carparks", and add the small widget.
  3. To put the widget on the CarPlay dashboard: Settings → General → CarPlay → [your car] → Widgets → Jersey Carparks. Connect to the car; the widget appears on the dashboard's left swipe panel.

FAQ

Why does my CarPlay dashboard show no widgets at all?

The CarPlay dashboard pane is a feature of newer head units. If your car's CarPlay system only shows the app launcher (a grid of app icons), it may not support the dashboard pane. There's no software fix for this on the app side — it's a head-unit firmware capability.

The widget shows old data.

The widget refreshes every 5 minutes (or whatever interval you've chosen in Settings). When CarPlay first connects, it can take a minute or two for the next refresh to fire. Opening the host app forces an immediate refresh and reload.

Why are some carparks missing?

The app shows six carparks: Green Street, Minden Place, Patriotic Street, Sand Street, Pier Road and Les Jardins. The Government of Jersey live feed sometimes includes other carparks (such as Charles Street); these are filtered out client-side. If a new carpark appears in the live feed and the app doesn't show it, please open an issue (link below).

Where does the data come from?

Live carpark availability is fetched directly from the Government of Jersey public feed at sojpublicdata.blob.core.windows.net. This is the same data that powers the official Government of Jersey live carpark page at gov.je.

Static information shown in the detail view (height restriction, PayByPhone code, latitude/longitude) is sourced from the gov.je carparks page and the public-facilities-locations dataset on opendata.gov.je, the latter explicitly published under the Open Government Licence — Jersey v1.0. Total capacity is intentionally not shown because it is not available from a queryable official feed.

Is this an official Government of Jersey app?

No. Jersey Carparks is an unofficial third-party app that consumes the Government of Jersey's publicly-published live carpark feed. The app is published by The Magic Apps. Data may be inaccurate or out of date and should not be the sole basis for parking decisions.

How do I report a bug or request a feature?

Support requests, feature requests and data corrections are handled on the public issue tracker: github.com/The-Magic-Apps/Jersey-Carparks/issues.
